There are many energy efficiency rebates and incentives available, from home & business improvements to electric vehicles and infrastructure. Explore the links below!

1. EDMONTON CHANGE HOMES FOR CLIMATE SOLAR PROGRAM

The program is helping Edmontonian’s install solar systems on their homes to produce renewable energy. The city is offering Edmonton homeowners $0.40/watt towards the cost of the system, which covers approximately 15% of the costs of going solar! Rebate stacking is allowed with the Canada Greener Homes Grant Program up to a maximum of 100% of the total investment made by the owner.

The Change Homes for Climate Solar Program is fully subscribed and no longer accepting new Part I applications to the waitlist.


2. EMISSION REDUCTION ALBERTA

ERA takes action on climate change and supports economic growth by investing in the pilot, demonstration and deployment of clean technology solutions that reduce GHGs, lower costs, attract investment, and create jobs in Alberta. Energy Savings for Business helps Alberta businesses improve their efficiency and reduce emissions by supplying funding for commercial cost- and energy-saving technologies. The program is comprised of three offerings: Energy Savings for Business Program (ESB)Expanded Technologies Pilot (ETP), and the Small Producers Energy Efficiency Deployment (SPEED) stream.


3. CLEAN ENERGY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM: RESIDENTIAL STREAM

This is an innovative financing tool for property owners to fund up to 100% of a minimum of three (3) home energy efficiency upgrades and renewable energy installation. The program offers low-cost financing and makes repayment convenient through your regular property tax bill.

The City of Edmonton’s Clean Energy Improvement Program is currently at capacity and has closed to pre-qualification submissions.


4. CLEAN ENERGY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM: COMMERCIAL STREAM

This is a new way to finance energy efficiency upgrades or renewable energy installations in Alberta. Commercial property owners can finance a minimum of three (3) commercial energy efficiency upgrades or renewable energy projects with a competitive interest rate and repayment terms of up to 20 years.


5. CANADA GREENER HOMES GRANT

This federal rebate program incentivizes Canadians to invest in energy-efficient home retrofits. The grant provides up to $5,000 in funding for eligible retrofits approved by a recognized Ener-Guide home evaluator, plus up to $600 to cover the evaluation cost.


6. CANADA GREENER HOMES LOAN

This is a federal program incentivizing Canadians to invest in energy-efficient home retrofits. The loan provides up to $40,000 in interest-free financing for eligible retrofits approved by a recognized Ener-Guide home evaluator, plus up to $600 to cover the evaluation cost.


7. INCENTIVES FOR ZERO-EMISSION VEHICLES PROGRAM (iZEV)

Transportation is the second largest source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Canada, accounting for a quarter of Canada’s total GHG emissions with almost half of these emissions coming from cars and light trucks. That is why the Government of Canada launched the iZEV Program to help make it more affordable, offering up to $5,000 for eligible vehicles. The program offers point-of-sale incentives for consumers who buy or lease a ZEV vehicle for at least 12 months.


8. INCENTIVES FOR MEDIUM AND HEAVY DUTY ZERO-EMISSION VEHICLES PROGRAM (MHZEVs)

Transportation is the second largest source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Canada, accounting for a quarter of Canada’s total GHG emissions. That is why the Government of Canada launched the MHZEV Program to help make it more affordable by providing purchasing/leasing organizations with incentives of up to $200,000 for eligible vehicles.


9. Electric Vehicle Charging Program

Take advantage of the Electric Vehicle Charging Program, an unprecedented opportunity to prepare for the rapid increase in electric vehicle (EV) sales. Electrify local tourism, future-proof your fleet, and save on fuel costs by installing an EV charger today. The Government of Canada, with matching funding from the Government of Alberta, is providing $3.4 million in rebates for the installation of EV charging infrastructure in Alberta municipalities. Additionally, SouthGrow Regional Initiative is offering close to $2 million in rebates for businesses and other organizations to build out their own EV charging infrastructure.
