Technical Sales - Residential
The Company
Great Canadian Solar (GCS) has proudly served Western Alberta in the renewable energy sector since 2009. GCS provides the design and installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) energy systems and has installed many of the largest commercial and residential systems throughout Alberta. The Role
Great Canadian Solar, one of Alberta’s most experienced and longest-serving solar contractors, is looking to for a passionate technical sales representative/solar specialist to join our growing company. As a solar specialist for our residential services, you will have the first contact with our customers, providing them with information about our products and the benefits of going solar. Your duties will include analyzing the needs of the customer, calculating resources, preparing quotes, and providing after-sales support. Initially, all customer contact will be completed via phone and/or email but you may eventually be required to visit customer sites.
To ensure success as a technical sales rep/solar specialist, you should have excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for solar energy. Ultimately, the solar specialist builds a rapport with customers and provides them with tailor-made solar solutions.
Technical Sales/Solar Specialist Responsibilities:
• Communicating with customers via phone and/or email
• Providing customers with information about our GCS & educating them on solar
• Gathering information to accurately identify the customers' solar needs
• Selecting solar energy products and systems to best suit the customers’ needs
• Preparing or reviewing designs for the customers' solar installation
• Providing customers with proposals
• Following up on sales quotes
• Completing sales order paperwork
• Providing after-sales service including courtesy calls
• Generating potential leads for new accounts
Technical Sales/Solar Specialist Requirements:
• Graduate of NAIT’s Alternative Energy Program OR Equivalent Education
• AutoCAD experience or equivalent design software experience (asset, not required)
• Previous work experience as a sales rep/solar specialist (asset, not required)
• In-depth knowledge of solar equipment and installations
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Professional appearance and friendly disposition
• Ability to relate technical information in layman’s terms
• Basic knowledge of sales and Office software
• Willingness to grow technically and professionally
